Bachy Soletanche employee crowned ground engineering apprentice of the year!

23 Feb 2016

Thursday 19th November saw the great and the good of the geotechnical world gather at the Bloomsbury Hotel in London for the Ground Engineering Next Generation Awards 2015.

Bachy Soletanche had a strong presence in the Apprentice of the Year category with Lucy Clark, Chris Cochrane and John Martin short-listed as finalists, along with apprentices from Keller and Cementation Skanska. As part of the process all finalists had to present to the judging panel, demonstrating the skills and knowledge developed during their apprenticeships.

In what was a highly competitive category, the winners’ trophy went to Chris Cochrane, based at our Plant facility in Burscough. Chris has spent four years with Bachy Soletanche and is undertaking an electrical apprenticeship working on construction plant and electrical installation. Chris has been supported by his manager, Bruce Eastaff, mentor Lee Fearnyough and all of the team in Burscough.

Bruce commented: “Chris’s dedication and attention to detail has been there from day one, he’s developed and matured over the last four years and is an asset to the team. He’s growing in confidence every day, always engaging with others and willing to increase his knowledge, experience and skill set. This award is richly deserved and I’m sure Chris will have a long and successful career in the industry.”

Bachy Soletanche offer several different apprenticeships which cover electrical and fitting at our plant facility along with the FPS piling apprenticeship. If you are interested in further information on our schemes please email recruit@bacsol.co.uk.
