What Is the BFPA Hose Scheme?

Established in 1995, the BFPA Approved Hose Assemblies Scheme sets a formal, industry-wide standard for the assembly, storage and supply of hose.

It is a robust accreditation programme open to BFPA members, ensuring that participating companies meet strict quality control procedures and certification requirements.

Companies that meet these standards are awarded the ‘Q’ Approved logo—a recognised mark of quality, safety and professional excellence across the fluid power sector.

What Does the Scheme Cover?

The Hose Scheme applies to all aspects of hose assembly operations, including:

  • Assembly and manufacture of hose assemblies
  • Storage, handling and supply processes
  • Workshop facilities and mobile service operations
  • Staff competence and training requirements

All accredited companies must demonstrate compliance with BFPA quality control standards such as D8 (facilities) and D12 (mobile workshops), ensuring consistent and reliable performance across the industry.
