John Farmer is new BFPA Vice President

30 Sep 2019

It is with great pleasure that the British Fluid Power Association announces the appointment of John Farmer in the role of Vice President for the BFPA.

John, a member of the BFPA Board since May 2017 is the former MD of Flowtechnology UK and was recently appointed as Group Commercial Director for its parent Company Flowtech Fluidpower plc, a role which will see John build closer alliances with leading suppliers in the industry, and serves as an excellent fit for his new position with the BFPA.

John has over 30 years’ experience in fluid power and has a keen passion for both education and health and safety matters surrounding fluid power. Through the BFPA’s already close links into government, he aims to improve awareness and minimum safety standards in manufacturing.

John comments: “The younger generation is the key to our legacy, the world is changing and becoming more technology focused. While we can tap into this; designing systems which become more automated and electronically operated, there will always be an important place for fluid power, as no other technology provides the same power and precision required to control today’s mechanical giants or manufacture life-saving drugs en mass. Through education in schools and in the workplace, we can raise awareness about the career opportunities fluid power has to offer, along with the importance of minimum health and safety standards in manufacturing. Through a more modern approach, this is what I intend to do in my role as Vice President for the BFPA”.

Hans Waltl, BFPA’s current President comments: “I am delighted that John has been elected to the position of Vice President of the BFPA and look forward to working with him over the next few years”.
