Teesside expansion set to create jobs for Quick Hydraulics

Tyneside engineering business Quick Hydraulics is set to open a Teesside base as it expands on the back of successful contract work for Wilton Engineering, Cleveland Potash and Caterpillar.
Having been acquired by Altec Engineering Group, North Shields firm Quick are actively looking for a Teesside base ahead of plans to kick-start business growth in the area that is forecast to create up to 10 new jobs over the next 18 months.
Quick are bouncing back strongly after a challenging 2015 and are close to completing a long term contract for the complex manufacture of subsea equipment for Wilton Engineering.
Opening a Tees base is a natural progression for Quick Hydraulics, as they not only have a number of key customers in Tees Valley but also have a leadership team with strong links to the area.
Managing director Andrew Esson, who hails from Guisborough, is part of a Quick leadership with strong Teesside connections, Engineering Director Alan Egglestone is from Hartlepool, Service Manager Steve Robinson lives in Normanby and Altec Group CEO Alastair Waite has long-standing business connections in the area.
Quick plan to open a base of up to 10,000 square feet, housing offices and a workshop, as they continue to diversify into new sectors beyond their traditional oil and gas market.
Explaining the plans, Esson said: “We have longstanding Teesside relationships with a number of key customers, including Caterpillar, Cleveland Potash and Wilton Engineering, and it makes sense to use our local knowledge to build on these relationships.
“We are actively reviewing potential locations on Portrack Lane, which would be an ideal base for our Teesside operations, but we retain an open mind regarding other possible locations”.
Altec CEO Waite added: “Quick Hydraulics has a strong and capable team, and we are keen to support the growth of the business. Teesside is a logical stepping stone from the company’s North Shields and Aberdeen base as we build on the real progress the company has made in recent months.
“There is strong demand for the hydraulics expertise that Quick and Altec can now offer. Our formal relationship has been good news all-round and the push into Teesside, with the local engineering jobs that will create, being the latest spin-off.”

Quick Hydraulics has built a reputation for delivering high quality hydraulic systems and solutions, which include hydraulic power units, hydraulic installations, industrial service and City & Guilds accredited hydraulic training.
The company has already expanded successfully into the North East of Scotland in recent years, operating from its sales office in Aberdeen.
Headquartered in Durham but with additional facilities in Stanley as well as Shipley in West Yorkshire, the Altec Engineering Group comprises companies covering a wide range of engineering disciplines including CNC precision machining, specialist coatings, design and build of special purpose equipment, electrical and mechanical design and tool-making.
