Moving Forward with BFPA Training

22 Oct 2020

The BFPA has responded positively to the upheaval and uncertainty brought on by the Coronavirus over the past seven months. The Association quickly adapted specific training courses to be delivered online to ensure that our members and the wider hydraulics industry still had the opportunity to continue training when face to face courses were not possible.

Since September the BFPA has resumed its traditional face to face training with suitable Covid 19 precautions in place and this has led to a review of our online programme.

The importance of offering a variety of training opportunities cannot be denied and we firmly believe that online training is here to stay. After much consideration we have decided that there should be a more structured and coordinated approach to the training programme we offer taking into consideration which courses are more suited to online delivery and which, due to their practical content, are best delivered face to face. As a result, the BFPA Open Course Training Programme will now have two arms with online and face to face courses both taking place once a month throughout the year in conjunction with the continuing delivery of separate onsite and group training courses.

This will enable delegates to choose their preferred method of learning when attending a course and allow us to provide both purely theoretical versions of a course alongside a more practical assessment lead version face to face. After careful consideration it was also decided that due to the level of practical content the BFPA Hose assembly Skills and Pressure testing courses were best delivered face to face.

Below is a table outlining our delivery methods going forward:

 BFPA Courses Face-to-Face Online
 Safety Foundation
 Hose Assembly Skills
 Hydrostatic Proof Pressure Testing
 Hose Integrity, Inspection & Management
 Small Bore Tube Integrity
 Thread Awareness

As already mentioned the BFPA will happily deliver dedicated, bespoke online training courses to larger groups on separate agreed dates and times to suit a company’s needs. In this way companies with complicated shift patterns or different facilities spread throughout the UK or indeed internationally can take up the training on offer.

Rest assured On Site face to face training is still very much at the forefront of the BFPA’s training programme. The willingness to deliver training, where practical, at a customer’s facility is the cornerstone of the BFPA’s offering which has ensured over 10,000 delegates successfully trained to an industry recognised standard.
