Your Invitation to the Houses of Parliament for a Summer Reception with Politicians and Government stakeholders involved with the UK Industrial Digitalisation

27 Apr 2018

BFPA CEO Chris Buxton invites members to join him for an event at the House of Commons entitled – UK Industrial Digitalisation – what it means for Engineering Companies.

As a member of the Engineering & Machinery Alliance, (EAMA), BFPA is organising a reception at the House of Commons that will help to promote an understanding of our sector amongst MPs and to win their support on a host of different issues, including digitalisation. I am writing to invite you to be part of this worthy and enjoyable event. The reception is being held co-operatively by all members of the Engineering and Machinery Alliance, of which BFPA is a leading player.

The reception will be hosted by Alan Mak, MP for Havant and Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Speakers will include Dr Juergen Maier, Chief Executive of Siemens plc, who led the Made Smarter review of industrial digitalisation for the government.

We will be holding the reception on The Terrace at the House of Commons, which overlooks the Thames. This is a rare opportunity to see this historic area of Parliament, as well as to talk to MPs and network with other colleagues and companies from industry. The theme will be: “UK Industrial Digitalisation – what it means for engineering companies”.

The reception is on June 11, 19.00 to 22.30hrs, with speeches starting at 19.45. Numbers are limited, and restricted to three people per company, so please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to attend. Please feel free to invite customer representation, if you think that would be helpful. There is no charge for attending.

Even if you are unable to attend, I would urge you to contact your MP’s to urge them to look-in on the event as they are entitled to do using their House of Commons passes. We are looking to meet as many MPs as possible and there are few things as persuasive as a note from an employer in an MP’s constituency. We will ensure they have clear, positive messages about UK industry and the support they can give. You can find your MP’s email address here: https://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/mps/

Do please get back to me to let me know if you can attend.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Chris Buxton – CEO – British Fluid Power Association
