Yvonne Pearman – 17th Anniversary and counting…

17 Jun 2021

One of the interesting things about different trade associations is the variability of the different strengths and weaknesses that each exhibits in comparison to the wider TA community.  Some specialise in their Exhibitions, some on their market research services and so on.  One the great strengths of the BFPA has always been our contribution to the technical standards community both here in the UK through the BSI service agreement and abroad through our connections with the International Standards Committees.  Indeed, having been directly engaged with the trade association world for around twenty years I can confirm that we can stand up to scrutiny against even the strongest of other associations in this respect.

Our 10 technical and standards development committees drive standards in the industry forward.

These committees are made up of BFPA members who are experts in their particular field.   They work tirelessly – and voluntarily – on behalf of all of our members, using their expertise and experience to benefit the industry. Working together, they have helped frame European legislation designed to harmonise and raise standards, safety and professionalism.

All of this good work requires co-ordination and strong administrative support; someone who can act as a ‘lynch-pin’ to provide an all-important link between the Members, Committee members and their colleagues either in BSI or the wider International community.  As many BFPA members will be aware; that role is fulfilled for our Association by Yvonne Pearman.  As of the 4th of June 2021, Yvonne has worked for 17 years in this capacity and this short piece is written to recognise this milestone and to thank Yvonne for what has been 17 years of hard work and dedication.  Yvonne’s work has been recognised before.  In November 2015, Yvonne was awarded a BSI commendation for her contribution to the standards community and in September 2016 she won an ISO award for excellence.

Her colleagues have also been quick to recognise her contribution;

“Congrats on your work anniversary.  Thanks for all of your hard work with Working Group 1.I am indebted to you for going above and beyond.”

Dr Barry Verdegan – ISO/TC 131/SC 6/WG 1 Chair.

“Yvonne, in 17 years you have built such respect from the International Standards Community, BFPA technical committee members and the Chairmen through your dedication, attention to detail and long hours of hard work.  Your awards from ISO and BSI speak for themselves.  Congratulations.”

Jerry Hughes – T and SPC Chair.

“I am sure that the wider BFPA membership would wish to join me in congratulating Yvonne on her 17 years of service.”

Chris Buxton – BFPA CEO.
