Supporting Initiatives
The BFPA is proud to support Phoebe as she works to make a meaningful difference to vulnerable communities and safeguard our planet for the future.
My name is Phoebe and I want to make a difference.
As a student, I want to get stuck into something meaningful and be part of real, positive change. This project with Camps International is a chance to step beyond the classroom, roll up my sleeves and make a genuine difference – supporting communities, protecting the environment, and seeing the impact first-hand. It’s a chance to meet inspiring people, gain new skills and know that my time and energy are helping create a better future for people and the planet. I have always had an interest in the environment and our impact on it, how we can help to combat the challenges some communities currently face. Also, as an animal lover with two whippets of my own, I want to be able to support the world’s biodiversity, and I hope with this opportunity, I can make a positive difference.
Ecuador Galápagos Expedition
In rural Ecuador, many young people have had to leave their communities to find work in the cities. This has created skills shortages and reduced the ability of these communities to support themselves. By taking part in local community development projects, I’ll be working hands on to help strengthen basic health and welfare, improve access to food and clean water, and support education facilities – helping communities become more resilient and self-sufficient.
I’ll also be working alongside the Galápagos National Park team on essential beach clean ups, removing everything from large plastic waste to small bottle caps. Through this work, I’ll learn firsthand how our everyday choices affect marine life and what we can do to protect these fragile ecosystems for future generations.
In the heart of the Amazon rainforest, I’ll be contributing to environmental conservation projects such as planting food trees to support native wildlife and helping with initiatives aimed at reducing wildlife poaching. This work plays a small but important role in protecting biodiversity in one of the most vital ecosystems on the planet.
As part of a team, I’ll also support a small rural community through practical construction work, including painting, plastering and basic bricklaying. These improvements make a real, visible difference to everyday life and help strengthen important community spaces and infrastructure.
Each project is an opportunity for me to give back, learn from local communities, and be part of positive, sustainable change.
Any donations, no matter the size, are hugely appreciated and go directly towards supporting these projects – helping to empower communities, protect wildlife, and preserve fragile environments for the future. Click here to support this project with a donation.
