About the Hose Scheme

The BFPA Approved Hose Assemblies Scheme was established in 1995 and is now the leading industry accreditation scheme for hose manufacturing and assembly, distribution and fitting. It sets a formal and credible standard for the assembly, storage and supply of hose across all sectors.

The scheme aims to ensure that all companies displaying the ‘Q’ Approved logo are fully accredited distributors or manufacturers complying with the BFPA D8 (facilities) and/or D12 (mobile vehicles) quality control procedures and certification requirements for the manufacture of flexible hose assemblies for fluid power.

By displaying the ‘Q’ for quality logo a company is demonstrating their intention to adopt only ‘best practice’ standards with regards to hydraulic hose safety. To commit to having their employees trained to an industry standard which supports and ensures those ‘best practice’ control guidelines. To encourage end users to fit only hoses complying with the requirements of the BFPA approved hose assemblies scheme.

The regular biannual inspections provide assurance to both customers and end users that companies within the Scheme are dedicated to maintaining quality safety standards and do not partake in the dangerous practice of re-ending hose assemblies.

The BFPA is committed to building and strengthening the effectiveness of the Scheme, to champion the importance of safe working practices throughout the fluid power industry and promoting the ‘Q’ logo as the standard that all companies involved with hose assembly should aspire to.
