Minister responds to lobbying letter about maintaining key services and the role of key workers in the fluid power sector during the COVID-19 emergency

29 Apr 2020

You will be aware that for some weeks we have been lobbying Government regarding the importance of ensuring that fluid power companies and BFPA / BFPDA members can continue to work during the lock-down period. This culminated in a final written submission on the 3rd April to the Rt Hon Alok Sharma MP, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, about maintaining key services and the role of key workers in the fluid power sector during the COVID-19 emergency.

I am pleased to say that today we have had a personal response from Nadhim Zahawi MP – Minister for Business and Industry. He has confirmed that provided members comply where ever possible with the guidelines from Public Health England, (which members are), BFPA/BFPDA members can continue working as part of the key workforce.   He also takes the trouble to thank members for the contribution that they are making to the COVID-19 response. I have attached the letter for your perusal. Members may therefore take comfort that they can choose to continue working as necessary. I trust that members are pleased with this outcome
