On July 18, 2018 – Emerson (NYSE: EMR) announced it had completed the purchase of Aventics. Aventics and Asco Numatics (part of Emerson) are members of the BFPA in the UK.

In June, Aventics announced the launch of a pneumatics shop in the UK for purchasing pneumatic components online. Available at www.pneumatics-shop.uk the one-stop-shop portal allows customers easy and fast access to components and solutions online.

Aventics Hungary recently won a prestigious IIoT award in the Hungarian “Factory of the Year” contest for excellence in digitalisation.

BFPA member Bosch Rexroth Ltd recently launched its new corporate image and logo at the 2018 Hannover Messe in Germany, and the new logo can been seen above. According to a company press release “the combination of fonts and colours symbolises the core skills and, thus, the essence of the Bosch Rexroth brand: Movement”.

The new brand is being rolled out globally and has been already been adopted in the UK.

After a number of successful years based in Lutterworth, BFPA member Freudenberg Sealing Technologies have outgrown their current premises and are relocating to Rugby. FST will continue to hold stock locally to ensure they can continue to service all their customers’ sealing needs during the move and the company will open for business on Monday 6th August 2018 from its new site, address as follows:

As well as offering a standard range of hydraulic check valves, BFPA member Hydraulic System Products Limited has recently launched a new bespoke Check Valve service which includes design, development and prototyping meaning that they are able to meet their customer demands quickly.

The company is a UK manufacturer of valves based in Wakefield.

BFPA member Pirtek’s “Fluid Power Glove” has won the Safety Innovation of the Year Award at the recent 2018 inaugural Demolition Awards held at the Belfry Hotel and Resort in Sutton Coldfield on 20th July 2018. The glove has been developed by Pirtek to offer some protection against hydraulic injection injuries and tested at the HSE’s Buxton laboratory.

WEBTEC supports The Secondary Engineer® ‘Fluid Power Challenge’ being extended to Cambridgeshire schools

The Secondary Engineer® Fluid Power Challenge aims to attract secondary school pupils into engineering and is being launched into schools in Cambridgeshire and East Anglia. The project is set to run during 2018/19 and aims to introduce over 200 14-year olds to the fun and challenge of building a pick and place robot arm using low cost materials and fluid power principles. Fluid Power Challenge is run by the not-for-profit Primary Engineer Programmes® and is supported by many companies including WEBTEC and Cambridgeshire Hydraulics, as well as numerous trade associations including British Fluid Power Association (BFPA), British Compressed Air Society (BCAS), and Construction Equipment Association (CEA) and was took place on 18 July.

WEBTEC is dedicated to increasing the knowledge and skills of its employees, customers and the wider community and this latest sponsorship strengthens its commitment to the next generation of engineers along with its support of programmes such as the Arkwright Scholarship Trust and Engineering Education Scheme.
