2018 MCI Awards round up

27 Apr 2018

It was good to see so many BFPA members at the 2018 MCI Awards dinner on 10 April 2018 at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham, organised by Touchwave Media in association with BFPA, BFPDA, BCAS and GAMBICA. It was the third such annual event to celebrate business and professional excellence in the motion control industry.

BFPA members Beaumanor, Bosch Rexroth and Parker Hannifin sponsored the evening during which the awards were presented by Helen Fospero, the well-know TV journalist, and post-award entertainment included the excellent string quartet Siren.

BFPA member Pirtek’s fluid power glove was on the shortlist for Technical Innovation of the Year with the award going to Elmo Motion Control for Gold Twitter Innovation.

Bosch Rexroth sponsored the Environmental / Energy Efficiency Award, which was won by JBC Industrial Services for their Energy Efficient Oilon Burners & Ecosafe.

Project of the Year was won by Physik Instruments for their High Temperature Uniaxial Creep Apparatus.

Two BFPA members: Parker Hannifin and Webtec were on the shortlist for the Manufacturer of the Year Award, which was awarded to ABB.

BFPDA members Brammer and BSP Hydraulics were contenders for the Distributor of the Year award which was sponsored by BFPA member Beaumanor. The winner of this award was Thorite for 2018.

BFPA sponsored the Contribution to Skills & Training category which was won by Primary Engineer programmes, although BFPA members Festo Training and Consulting and Pirtek Training Academy were in the running for this award too.

Engineer of the Year was sponsored by BFPA member Parker Hannifin and awarded to Mitch Randall of KEB UK.

Finally last but by no means least, BFPA’s Lifetime Contribution Award was awarded to David Phillips (see separate article in the newsletter on this award).

BCAS’s Lifetime Achievement Award for 2018 went to Rodney Stafford.
