BFPA Approved Hose Assemblies Scheme Inspection visits to restart in August 2020

29 Jul 2020

There is no doubt that this year has been a challenging one and like our members, the BFPA has had to modify its working practices to protect the best interests of both our staff and the safety of our members with whom we work so closely. One particularly unwelcome impact has been the temporary suspension of the inspection visits relating to the Approved Hose Assembly Scheme membership.

However, we are pleased to say that with the gradual but very clear subsidence of the COVID-19 virus, we are now making plans to resume the inspection programme. Indeed, our members are actually contacting us and asking when the visits can resume.

With this in mind, BFPA’s Membership and Training Director Martin Kingsbury will soon be writing to inform scheme members that we will be resuming the inspection programme from the 11th of August 2020.

Martin Kingsbury comments: “Clearly, we cannot undertake this work without taking onto account the new risks associated with COVID-19 so we are going to have to take extra steps to mitigate for any threat to either myself (as the inspector), and our members, as our ‘customers’.   These steps will include the full use of professional PPE by both parties, social distancing where possible, a risk assessment of the process that I will be following and of course, respect for the members own risk assessment and associated steps that need to be followed. No one process will be exactly the same from one member’s premises to the next so in order to meet our obligations between now and the end of the year I shall be contacting you to discuss the safest and most appropriate way to undertake your inspection and I am sure that I can rely upon you to help in ensuring our mutual safety throughout the process!”

Martin looks forward to speaking with members soon to arrange a convenient date for the Approved Hose Assemblies Scheme inspection.

In the meantime, please feel free to call Martin Kingsbury on his mobile 07787184600 at any time should you wish to discuss any aspect of this process, or drop him an email at martin@bfpa.co.uk
