BFPA attends the 2018 Fluid Power & Systems Show

BFPA CEO Chris Buxton reports on BFPA’s recent pavilion at the 2018 FP&S Show.

The new BFPA branding (introduced in 2017) made a significant splash at the recent 2018 Fluid Power Systems Show at the NEC this April where it was adopted for the BFPA Pavilion! The smart new look was complemented by a ceiling banner which made locating the pavilion all the easier for the steady flow of members coming to the stand for either business meetings, information and assistance or simply to have a well-earned break from their stands – made all the more palatable by a good supply of refreshments!

This year the show was held in a different hall but retained its co-location with the MACH Show. The new geography was met with a mixed response with some members and visitors claiming that they had trouble navigating what was a slightly curious geography but the cosmetic appearance was to a high standard and many members reported a good flow of visitors and enquiries. The crossover ‘foot-fall’ from the MACH show also did much to boost attendance at the event.

Like many industrial shows on the current international circuit, the theme was very much dominated by the inexorable trend towards digitalization and Industry 4.0 with its accompanying demand for smart products and components at all stages of the supply chain. The associated seminar programme examined these issues in more detail and with the exception of the early morning slots, were well attended with much debate between speakers and audience.

Walking the show floor, it was evident that BFPA members had invested a significant amount of money and resource into what were impressive and creative stands.

The team from Burnett & Hillman certainly had a good show with Andrew Burnett commenting that they had one of the best locations that they have had for several years. They were placed on the main thoroughfare between the main entrance to the event and the seminar theatre so footfall was very high. As Graham Andrews pointed out – “That is the benefit of booking early!”

For anyone who is still inclined to question the merits of attending exhibitions, the FPS Show 2018 should have done much to convince them otherwise!
