CETOP and ISC Results for 2017

BFPA uses top level data from its annual surveys for hydraulics and pneumatics and reports to participate in the annual CETOP survey, which in turn feeds into the annual ISC survey.

The latest results for 2017 are available now for members in the Members Only section of the BFPA website, and all countries recorded increases in 2017 over for both hydraulics and pneumatics with several countries recording double-digit growth. If you log in to your Members Only pages, you will be able to download the latest 2017 hydraulic and pneumatic market information for the following countries:

In the first release 2017 CETOP results, data from the following countries is included: Belgium, Czech Rep., Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the UK.

The 2017 ISC results include figures from: CETOP*, China, Japan, Taiwan and the USA.

*n.b. Estimates have been included in the 2017 data for Denmark, France, Norway and Poland as these countries have not yet reported their data to CETOP for 2017.

 

2017 Fluid Power UK Trade Data

The latest UK trade data for the hydraulic and pneumatic codes for 2017 is now also available for download on the Members Only pages of the BFPA website, based on data from H.M. Revenue and Customs. After a negative trade deficit was posted for 2016, 2017 was a much better year with the combined fluid power trade codes recording a positive trade balance of + £ 24.5 million (after a deficit of -£5.7 million was recorded in 2016) – see the summary chart below:

2017 PRODCOM Data

The first release of provisional estimates for 2017 PRODCOM (UK production sales) have also been published by the Office for National Statistics and these also available for download from the Members Only pages of the BFPA website.

Headline figures (please see the website for detail by product) indicate that fluid power production sales – as reported for the fluid power specific codes (n.b. we do not have codes for many of the product groups such as hose and fittings) in 2017 grew to £ 837 million (from £ 793 million in 2016).

 

BFPA Salary and Benefits Surveys 2018

The three annual salary and benefits surveys for hydraulics, pneumatics and distributors are now underway – all those companies who reply now receive a top level summary of all three surveys – please reply if you can.

 

BFPA Economic Forecast Event 10 October 2018

This year’s BFPA Economic Forecast Event will take place at the Lloyds Bank Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre (AMTC), Ansty Park, Coventry CV7 9JU on Wednesday 10 October 2018.

Speakers will be Jeremy Leonard, Director of Industry Services, Oxford Economics, Terry Boniface, Assistant Director, Electronics and Machinery, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and Dr. Lina Huertas, Head of Technology Strategy for Digital Manufacturing at the MTC. After the presentations, there will be a guided tour of some areas of the MTC research buildings, and an informal buffet lunch will provide a good networking opportunity for members of the BFPA and BFPDA. All delegates registering for the event will also receive a free twelve months subscription to Oxford Economics’ “World Economic Prospects” (October 2018-September 2019).
