ISO/TC 131 Fluid power systems – meetings 14 to 18 May 2018

Around 60 experts from China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, UK and USA met in London at the offices of the UK’s National Standards Body, British Standards Institution (BSI), during the third week of May to progress a number of the projects from the 500 standards under the remit of TC 131.

WebEx conferencing was one of the many topics discussed with ISO introducing a new service “Zoom” shortly to meet the ever-increasing demand of virtual meetings.

Yvonne Pearman, BFPA’s Technical Standards Manager was present at several of the fluid power meetings as were the following UK experts from BFPA and BFPDA companies:

• Steve Davies of Hedley Hydraulics Ltd
• Richard Driver of SMC Pneumatics UK Ltd
• Mark Fairhurst of BHR Group and
• Stan Saunders representing Bosch Rexroth Ltd

As part of the full programme of events, the BFPA hosted a very successful evening at the Musical Museum in Chiswick with a guided tour and demonstrations of how some of the aged instruments worked.
