BFPA continues to sponsor students at the JCB Academy

27 Jul 2018

As part of its on-going campaign to support all initiatives designed to address the skills shortage in our sector BFPA continued its support of the JCB Academy this year by sponsoring another student.

The JCB Academy was established in 2010 and is governed by a charitable trust, established by JCB. The Board members consist of the Principal, Jim Wade and a board of Governors and is based in a carefully adapted and renovated mill, which (appropriately) was built by the famous industrial entrepreneur and engineer, Richard Arkwright, in the late 18th Century.

The academy is sponsored by JCB and, alongside other businesses including Bentley Motors, Network Rail and Rolls-Royce, they form JCB’s Core Challenge Partners who together develop their unique curriculum and learning techniques.

Each year BFPA sponsors at least one student.  The awards are presented at an annual dinner in the impressive JCB Visitor Centre in Uttoxeter which this year took place on Thursday 19 July 2018 and was attended by Chris Buxton of the BFPA.

This year our congratulations go to Olivia Barlow who won the BFPA-sponsored ‘Achievements through Action’ award 2018.  We wish Olivia all the very best for her future career.
