Camozzi swap fluid power for pedal power!

Nuneaton, 5 October 2021 – Riders from BFPA member Camozzi Automation Ltd have raised over £2,000 for the Children with Cancer UK organisation, whilst taking part in this year’s London to Brighton charity bike ride.

The ride’s route covered 55 miles from Clapham Common to Brighton seafront, in varying weather conditions ranging from bright sunshine to pouring rain and included the notorious Ditchling Beacon climb; a challenging 0.9 miles with an average gradient of 9%.

Originally scheduled for September 2020, the event was postponed due to Covid, giving the Camozzi team the opportunity to fit in more training, with long serving senior area manager Ross Scott returning from his recent retirement to take part.

Camozzi Automation Ltd Managing director Adrian Farnham commented: “It was great to finally take part after last year’s disappointment. We have quite a few keen cyclists in our ranks and it’s a great opportunity for some out of work socialising, whilst also keeping fit and raising funds for a very good cause in the process.”

HOS to attend prestigious offshore wind conference & exhibition

Sunderland based Hydraulic & Offshore Supplies (HOS) and BFPDA member are confirming their supply chain credentials within the renewables sector with their attendance at the Offshore Wind North East conference and exhibition in December 2021.

Having been based on Sunderland’s riverside for over 30 years, HOS has established itself as the go to hydraulic and fluid power supplier to marine, subsea and ship management businesses across the globe, they are now looking to expand further into the renewables sector with the north east conference being a perfect opportunity for them.

The conference, held at Sunderland’s Beacon of Light on the 1st and 2nd of December is only a stone’s throw from the HOS workshop and offices and is a leading event within the renewables sector, exploring themes and opportunities in the offshore wind sector. It brings together an impressive line-up of speakers to update delegates on business activities and how to engage moving forward, with the lack of face to face events due to the pandemic, there will be an optimism to return to normality with the organisers anticipating over 100 exhibitors and 500 attendees.

HOS’ managing director, Don Fenwick, commented, “We’re delighted to be exhibiting at such a prestigious conference, not only will it give us the opportunity to share our knowledge, expertise and capabilities with the attendees but to also be able to support a local event is great for us.

With several ambitious renewables projects already in the development stage, the high growth rate of wind energy makes the UK one of the renewable market leaders, with our vast experience within the fluid power and hydraulic sectors we’re looking forward to being able to support businesses and play our part towards a green future.”

To chat with HOS, visit their stand, D20 on the 1st and 2nd of December.

HydraForce Ltd shortlisted for Greater Birmingham Apprenticeship Awards 2021

HydraForce Ltd is delighted to reveal that they have been shortlisted for both Large Employer of the Year and Apprentice of the Year in the Greater Birmingham Apprenticeship Awards 2021.

HydraForce’s Engineering apprentice, Ahmad Ford, has been nominated for the Apprentice of the Year award in Engineering & Manufacturing:

“Since Joining HydraForce in 2018 at a time when I was looking for a new, more challenging and rewarding career path. I have been challenged daily with opportunities to not only participate in but in some instances lead business critical projects” said Ahmad, after the news of his nomination. “During this period, HydraForce has gone through a significant growth and the fact that I have been given the opportunity to participate in projects that have assisted this growth, reinforces my belief that not only an apprenticeship, but an apprenticeship with HydraForce, was a smart decision.”

“It has never been my intention to seek any kind of critical acclaim, but I feel humbled and honored to be shortlisted for the Greater Birmingham Apprenticeship Awards 2021” continues Ahmad. “Whether I am successful or not, I look forward to continuing my development, through my foundation degree, to full honors degree, laying the foundations for a long and bright future growing with HydraForce and hopefully having the opportunity to assist in the development of future HydraForce apprentices.”

Ahmad will be competing against two other candidates in the Engineering & Manufacturing category. Should he be successful in this industry category, he will then be in the running for the winner of Greater Birmingham Apprentice of the Year. This overall award will be revealed on the night and chosen from one of the six industry apprentice winners.

This is the third time a HydraForce apprentice has been nominated at the Greater Birmingham awards in this category, and it follows the success of former HydraForce apprentice winners at the 2019 Awards.

HydraForce has also been nominated for Large Employer of the Year for apprenticeships at this year’s award ceremony.

HydraForce’s award winning apprenticeship scheme began in 2004, and has grown considerably over recent years through the introduction of a Business apprenticeship, alongside their established Engineering apprenticeship programme:

“I am delighted that once again, our apprenticeship programme has been shortlisted for the Large Employer of the Year for apprenticeships, and our apprenticeship scheme continues to go from strength to strength” said Sam Wilcox-Wright, Learning and Development Manager.

“It is also fantastic to hear that Ahmad has been shortlisted for this award” continues Sam, “and it is a true reflection of his hard work and determination that he has shown throughout his apprenticeship”.

This nomination follows the company’s success in this category in 2019, where they were winners of the Large Employer for Greater Birmingham. HydraForce was also shortlisted at last year’s virtual ceremony event.

These apprenticeship awards are part of the Greater Birmingham campaign launched in 2018 to increase the number of apprentices across Birmingham and Solihull.

The award ceremony will take place on Thursday 11th November at Edgbaston Stadium.
